Dear Juan Carlos Gil,

On behalf of the City of Stuart, I would like to apologize that our website was not ADA compliant prior to you filing suit with us. The City of Stuart has nothing but the best of intentions when attempting to provide for its residents. Our city has and will always do whatever it takes to help accommodate persons with disabilities, which is why the city made a sincere attempt to provide an accommodation in our offer to have someone read any pages to you over the phone or in person.

Juan, I know this to be true because you and I have something in common. I am legally blind as well. In the future, if you have any need for accommodations, I encourage you to contact me directly prior to filing suit in the courts for financial gain.

With this settlement, the hard earned tax dollars of my friends, neighbors, constituents and your countrymen, who I am honored to serve, now increases your bank account instead of providing them services.
